Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases which involved child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law – custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide a customized approach to each client's need.
