THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family matters. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, property distribution in marital relationships, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, in addition to commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the of their caregivers or parents. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law - divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
