THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts and estate administration along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases which involved child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with an intention to provide a personalized approach to every client's needs.
