Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a crucial role in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law such as divorce, child support, custody and guardianships - aswell as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the goal of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
